On June 12, 2013, A small scale & localized tornado outbreak would occur across the midwestern US. As part of the outbreak (which spawned only a handful of twisters), one strong tornado would be produced. It was rated EF3, a classification only given to somewhat powerful tornadoes. this twister struck the outskirts of Belmont, Iowa in the center of the afternoon. But, due to the active tornado season, this tornado has gone relatively under the radar by most weather enthusiasts, leaving it only left in locals minds. Not only this, but the tornado did cause significant damage as well. But, this tornado did occur at such a time of day that its photogenic look was beautifully illuminated. As a result, many videos were uploaded of it and it’s incredible appearance. As a result, new videos from the tornado have been considered very big deals, since it was so well documented back then. So, when I recently discovered this incredible footage of the tornado beautifully ripping through the Iowa fields, I was eager to share. The whole tornado, and its gradual but beautiful weakening, can all be seen. It was shared to facebook by Becky Ellingston back then, who recorded the video.
