A tragic stampede at the Venkateswara temple in Kasibugga, Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh, claimed at least nine lives Saturday. The incident occurred around 11:30 am when a large number of devotees gathered at the temple premises for rituals. Police confirmed that several others were injured and rushed to nearby hospitals for immediate medical attention.

Kasibugga DSP Lakshman Rao said rescue and relief teams, along with local volunteers, worked swiftly to control the chaos and assist the victims. The exact cause of the stampede is being investigated.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu expressed deep sorrow over the incident, calling it a “heartbreaking tragedy.” In a post on X, he conveyed condolences to the families of the deceased and directed officials to ensure the best possible treatment for the injured. He also instructed authorities and local leaders to maintain order at the site and oversee relief efforts.
