Three different restaurants competed in our taste test for the best chicken and beef Fall River style Chow Mein sandwich. The Chow Mein sandwich is a local favorite, found mainly in New Bedford, Fall River and some areas of Rhode Island. This sandwich has been popular since the 1930's and is a classic meal of fried noodles, onion, celery and brown gravy served on a typical hamburger bun. It is more than a sandwich though, it's part of an institution for locals who grew up eating these....
