Day 209. Last time I wrote to you, I had just found a portal in the attic of The Cave and bravely stepped into a strange new world. For the last 55 days, a driverless Tesla has been transporting me down a long and winding road. The vehicle must be solar-powered because it hasn’t stopped once. To the left of the road is a vast expanse of solid blue landscape. To the right, a vast expanse of solid red landscape. What does it mean? I don’t know but I aim to discover the truth. I think I saw a moose with like 200 antlers one time but snow continues to fall in sheets so it’s hard to make out any details. The over-antlered mystical moose may have been a figment of my imagination or a dream. Within the first few hours on the road, I discovered a small space behind the backseats equipped with basic necessities. Food, water, a tiny but perfectly functional toilet with an equally tiny but tasteful bidet setup attached. After 154 days in Kenny’s attic, this all felt like the pinnacle of luxury. Strange how what we withhold from ourselves eventually becomes new to us again. I’ve spent most of my days listening to the music that came preloaded in the car’s computer. It’s mostly Carti leaks and white noise tracks like “Leaves Rustling In The Autumnal Breeze” and “Niagara But From Super Far Away.” Those helped calm me as I continued to wonder where I was headed. Every day I would wake up a little closer to a golden skyline that shimmered brighter and brighter. Today as I write this, I’ve finally arrived. The Tesla came to an unceremonious halt and the falcon wing doors opened. Surrounding me was a massive golden city. Before me stood buildings ten times the size of the Burj Khalifa. The ground beneath me, the buildings themselves—all solid gold and platinum. Some surfaces are embedded with jewels that resemble the one in Uzi’s forehead. Here a gem like that would go unnoticed. Once my eyes had adjusted and I had taken in the sight, I realized something else was off. It was completely quiet. And there was no other person walking around this city, at least as far as I could see. But I had that eerie feeling that someone was just here, passing through. I looked behind me and the Tesla was gone. So I walk along the gold-paved path for what seems like miles. I pass hundreds of these unfathomably tall door-less buildings. Then I hear something. It’s...I’m not sure? I hear it again. I know that sound from somewhere. Is that… an 808? I begin to follow the sound, but it’s faint and hard to locate due its low frequency. I can feel it though. As it passes through me my whole body resonates with its vibration. But before I can process any of this, I feel something scratching at my ankle. I look down to discover a white cat at my heels. I’m overjoyed to have met another living thing in this abyss. But before I can introduce myself, the cat scampers away. Somehow I know I’m meant to follow it. So I run after it and for the first time in years, I am overwhelmed with the notion that I’m in the right place at the right time… and that this is somehow leading to one of the most important moments of my life.
