Docker has had a huge impact on software development and scalable systems since its release. Kubernetes takes it to an even more extreme level. These systems bring scalable production systems to your local machine. We're able to develop with consistent environments which means that the saying, "It works on my system" means that it works on all of our systems.

This talk is focussed on using Docker for local development and then moving our developed system onto a Kubernetes cluster in a production environment. This talk is aimed towards software developers and people involved in dev ops but I'll give high-level overviews that should be understood by anyone - even if you have never used these applications before.

The examples will be simple and I'll give a bit of insight into how we design systems to be modular and scalable. Hopefully, by the end of the talk, you should be able to develop on your local machine and have the ability to push your code up to a Kubernetes cluster with minimal effort.
