For everybody who didn't follow my Instagram at the time, Vanilla suddenly fell ill one day. He was immediately taken to the vets where it turned out he had a respiratory illness which is common but very dangerous for older hamsters. Since hamsters are prey animals, they hide their symptoms well and by the time they actually appear ill, it can unfortunately be too late to help them. The treatments were not effective. His health went downhill very quickly and within 2 days, he passed away in my hands.

I announced Vanilla's passing on all my social media in July and said on the YouTube community that I would take a break and then post the final few unfinished Vanilla videos when I was ready, then finally a memorial. Unfortunately, that did not reach everybody. Vanilla deserved a proper memorial video, but it took me several months before I could even look at the footage of him again. Making this video in particular was very difficult. I apologise it ended up taking this long, but here it is.
