Join me as a step on board and give you a tour of a brand new Airbus A330-900 series aircraft.

This aircraft is new to our fleet and today I will be piloting it for the first time to Amsterdam, Netherlands.

This tour includes our 4 classes of service seating as well as a tour of the crew rest areas.

The crew rest areas are divided into two sections; the flight attendant section and the pilot section.

The pilot crew rest area is further divided town into two areas, one for each pilot that includes a bunk and rest seat.

Most new aircraft are certified to fly with two pilots at any one time. On longer flights the FAA requires pilots to take a rest period during the flight. These flights are designated as 'augmented' flights, as there will be more pilots on board than are required to operate the airplane at any one time.

Generally speaking flights in excess of 8 hours but less than 12 hours have 1 additional augmented pilot. For flights over 12 hours there are two additional augmented pilots. That is why this pilot crew bunk area consists of rest areas for two pilots.

Having space for two pilots to rest allows for the full utilization of the maximum endurance of around 15 hours of this aircraft.
