A.S.K Nairobi Agricultural Show 2023

My visit to the ASK (Agricultural Society of Kenya) Nairobi Agricultural Show was an enlightening and inspiring experience. As an enthusiast of sustainable farming practices, I had the opportunity to showcase a sample of a hydroponics system, which generated great interest and curiosity among the visitors.

The hydroponics system demonstrated the potential of growing plants without soil, using nutrient-rich water solutions. It was fascinating to explain the benefits of this innovative technique, such as reduced water usage, increased crop yields, and year-round cultivation. Many attendees were amazed by the efficiency and versatility of hydroponics and expressed their eagerness to adopt this method in their own farms and gardens.

During my time at the agricultural show, I also had the chance to explore various kitchen gardens, each showcasing different methods of organic and sustainable cultivation. I learned about using solar energy to dry out vegetables, a cost-effective and environmentally friendly approach that preserves the nutritional value of produce while extending its shelf life. Additionally, I discovered the potential of utilizing BSF (Black Soldier Fly) as a composting agent to transform garden waste into nutrient-rich compost. This natural and efficient process not only helps in waste management but also provides a valuable source of organic fertilizer for plants.
