This was one of those once in a lifetime opportunities to see something that only a few people one the face of the planet have seen in person. This pair of Red-breasted Wood Peckers were trying to get a large Black Rat Snake to leave their nest. We were there for a total of about 3 hours watching. We even tried to help the birds a few times, but to no avail.
Sometimes nature is cruel, and this is one of those times.
