In 1996, an unidentified US museum curator contacted the International Association for Cryptologic Research, or IACR, with an unusual request. The museum sought help to solve mysterious cryptograms embedded in seven gold bars with a combination of Latin letters and Chinese writing. Some experts believe the bars could be certificates related to a mysterious bank deposit worth millions of dollars...

When the mysterious curator contacted the IACR for assistance on the Chinese gold bars, cryptologists and treasure hunters from all over the world were immediately interested.

According to the association’s former president, Kevin McCurley, the seven gold bars were initially given to a Chinese general that went by the name of General Wang in Shanghai, China, in 1933.

In addition to 16 encrypted lines of Latin letters, the bars contain odd pictures and Chinese writing. Expert translators have claimed the writings reference a transaction worth more than 300 million dollars.

McCurley then stated that the gold bars may have represented certificates related to an unknown United States bank deposit. The images that have been made public include a signature, Chinese text, an image of a warplane, and what appears to be the picture of a general in uniform.

Some believe the codes to be a hoax, but the gold in the bars, weighing 3.96 pounds, is said to be worth more than 80,000 dollars.

To this day, nobody has been able to solve the encrypted text to access the substantial treasure that supposedly awaits...
