Extra notes from Wes regarding pedal tones:
"I can bend a low C down to a B, it just does not have the same beautiful resonance. We have the anomaly on the single valve tenor trombone, we can play pedal B flat and below to pedal F or so, and from pedal C up. But because of the acoustical physics of the tenor trombone, that pedal B natural does not exist. We cope by bending the pitch if we have to but it just does not have the same resonance. The double valve bass trombone can play that note since the second valve combination creates the right combination of tubing length to get the note in a normal slide position without bending the pitch with the lips."
