Cabbage Tree (Cordyline australis) is a large, evergreen tree native to New Zealand. It is known for its distinctive, tall, and narrow habit, and its large, palmate leaves that resemble a cabbage. It thrives in damp soils through to very dry soils and prefers full sun.

It typically grows to a height of 5-10 metres, forming a trunk after around 5 years.

The tree produces small, fragrant, white or pink flowers that are a popular source of nectar for bees and other pollinators. The berries it produces in autumn are also a food source for native birds such as the Tui, Kereru and Bellbird. The tree's bark and leaves are also used in traditional Maori medicine as an antiseptic and to treat wounds.

Cabbage Tree is a hardy plant and can tolerate a wide range of conditions. It grows very fast and is well suited to Revegetation planting
