Описание к видео Bhutan Trip - Day 3 || Thimphu to Punakha - Dochula Pass and Fertility Temple

Join us on Day 3 of our Bhutan adventure as we travel from Thimphu to Phunakha, exploring the breathtaking Dochula Pass, the fascinating Fertility Temple, and relaxing by the serene river near Phunakha Dzong. Stay tuned for more details about our stay in Phunakha in the upcoming videos.

Our Story:

Our journey on Day 3 begins with a scenic drive from Thimphu to Phunakha. Our first stop is the stunning Dochula Pass, located at an elevation of 3,100 meters. The pass is renowned for its panoramic views of the Himalayas, especially on clear days, where you can see the snow-capped peaks. Dochula Pass is also home to 108 memorial chortens (stupas) known as the Druk Wangyal Chortens, built in honor of Bhutanese soldiers who died in battle. The pass features a beautiful monastery and meditation center, offering a peaceful retreat with breathtaking views.

After soaking in the beauty of Dochula Pass, we continue our journey to Phunakha and visit the Fertility Temple, also known as Chimi Lhakhang. This temple, dedicated to Lama Drukpa Kunley, famously known as the "Divine Madman," is a significant pilgrimage site for couples seeking blessings for fertility. The Divine Madman is remembered for his unconventional methods of teaching Buddhism, often through humor and outrageous behavior. Chimi Lhakhang is renowned for its unique murals and phallic symbols, which are believed to ward off evil spirits and bring good luck.

Next, we spend some relaxing time by the river near Phunakha Dzong, one of Bhutan's most picturesque and historically significant fortresses. The Dzong, located at the confluence of the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers, is an architectural marvel surrounded by lush greenery and serene waters. It served as the administrative center and the seat of the Bhutanese government until the mid-1950s.

Finally, we head to our stay in Phunakha, ready to rest and recharge for more adventures. Stay tuned for details about our accommodation in Day 5's video.
