Grossaktion Warsaw: Remembering 80 Years Later - "Before the Trains Left the Umschlagplatz" – Prof. Havi Dreifuss + Pinchas Gutter 31.7.22

This is the first program in a four part series that will take a look at the Great Deportation from the Warsaw ghetto from different perspectives and will explore the life of the Jewish community behind the walls of the ghetto during the summer of 1942, including the role of the Jewish police and the Jewish doctors in the ghetto, and the ways in which we remember and commemorate this tragic event.

Prof. Havi Dreifuss' lecture "It is very difficult to live in constant terror" - Warsaw Ghetto on the Verge of Deportation and Death focused on the months leading up to the Great Deportation (summer 1942) and the days of the German Aktion itself. In this context, the grim reality of life in the Warsaw ghetto facing rumors of terror and mass murder will be presented. Pinchas Gutter, Holocaust survivor, gave a moving testimony about his experience in the Warsaw ghetto.
