Powerful Engines
Toyota gives you a choice of a 2.7-liter 4-cylinder with 159 horsepower or a 3.5-liter V6. Either choice is a winner, but it really depends on what you're looking for. The 4-cylinder engine can be paired with a manual transmission, but the V6 power is hard to beat. It's rated at 278 horsepower with 268 lb-ft of torque and delivers some smooth power. Of course, if you tow a lot, you'll especially want to consider the V6.

Toyota offers some smart technology in the Tacoma as well. The available Multi-Terrain Select offers five modes to assist in regulating the wheel spin and adjusting traction control. There is the Hill-start Assist Control, which does just that, helping you up steep hills safely. And there's the optional CRAWL control, an advanced system that helps get you across rough terrain. That's a ton of useful off-road technology.
Built to Last
Aside from it being a Toyota, one of the most reliable brands out there, the Tacoma is definitely built to last. Every Tacoma made is of high-strength steel, which is lighter and stronger than conventional steel. Of course, the TRD Off-Road trim level is made specifically for those who love off-roading. But regardless of the trim level, the Tacoma is made to take on some serious abuse.
Impressive Features
Trucks these days come with some cool features, and the Tacoma is right there at the top. The standard list includes a rearview camera, a tailgate locking handle for added security, power-sliding rear window and 16-inch wheels. The Tacoma also has an available Tow package that has Trailer-Sway Control, among other features.
