La Travesia - Bass Transcription - Juan Luis Guerra - K.Bass Kloppmann Pickups

I find it remarkable how, as a musician, you always benefit from breathing in other cultures and their musical styles. The song 'La Travesia' by Dominican singer Juan Luis Guerra is a great example of this for me. A fast merengue with a Grammy-worthy horn section and a virtuoso and expressive bass accompaniment. The use of short up-slides in some choruses is particularly noteworthy - I've never heard that before. Basically, the downbeats are often missing and immersing yourself in this driving but incredibly accurate merengue feeling is more than worth a transcription!
