Ray Stubbs:
Ray Stubbs and His Amazing One Man Blues Band:
Singing and playing a mixture of: Boogie, Jug-band, Ragtime, Delta-Country and Chicago Blues, in a unique style, performed upon Europe’s largest one man band kit. Comprising of: Foot-operated snare drum, crash-cymbal, sock cymbals, foot-operated washboard, hi-hat, kazoosaphone, bass-pedal board, jug, foot-operated cowbell, bass-drum, six and twelve string guitars, harmonicas and vocals. No backing tapes….no sampled sounds….just good live music.
This was Ray at his best, blistering bottleneck guitar, gravelly vocals and a harp that angels, let alone Sonny Boy, would have been proud of! This Geordie One Man Blues Band covers blues music by many of the greats, including in tonight's two sets:
Leadbelly, Howlin’ Wolf, Robert Johnson, Tampa Red, Mississippi Fred McDowell, Memphis Jug Band, Doctor Isaiah Ross, Jesse Fuller, Johnie Lewis, Lightnin’ Hopkins, Muddy Waters and Big Bill Broonzy.
Ray is a living legend on the North East Blues scene.
Since we filmed Ray in 2007, He does not perform this version of the One man Blues band anymore. A much more of a stripped down version.. He plays mainly with the Ray Stubbs and his All Stars Band.
