Learn why smokes tactically make pushing difficult, how to properly smoke a chokepoint, and other basics about playing around smokes.

Glossary
Camera - The first person camera that a player looks through when viewing the game world
Chokepoint - An entryway between locations that is made narrow by map geometry, making it naturally easier to defend

Summary
Crossing a smoke leaves you briefly at a disadvantage as your character model pokes through but you can’t see out the other side yet
Chokepoints should always be smoked with enemy-controlled zone on the wider side, making it easier for your team to push through, and aligned with the chokepoint on your side, leaving anyone entering your zone exposed to as many angles as possible
People commonly hold and peek smokes along a perpendicular angle
Smokes subdivide larger areas into closer quarters, increasing complexity and survivability of the area
Smokes have no owner, often favoring whoever’s there first
