We view the world through a hierarchical, motivational lens. It provides us with a starting place and aim. At its highest level of resolution, it is composed of voluntary behaviors. At its lowest and most abstract, it is an ultimate value. When we talk about our lenses, we are telling stories -- or, sometimes, meta-stories, when we talk about how our stories collapse or change.
