(7 Mar 2018) DESIGNERS, MODELS AT PARIS FASHION WEEK NAME THE ACCESSORY THEY CAN'T DO WITHOUT
Chanel wowed critics and fashionistas at Paris Fashion Week Tuesday (6 MARCH 2018,) as Karl Lagerfeld showed his fall-winter ready-to-wear collection at the Grand Palais under towering trees, dewy scents and the rustling of dry leaves.
Among the autumnal outfits on show were those finished off with huge statement scarfs and a variety of bags.
Actress, model and Lagerfeld muse Audrey Marnay was a guest at the show, but her own must-have accessories fall into three other categories.
"I love belts and gloves and shoes.  I've got three - like, they are the main accessories," said the model and actress. "And today a hat, because you know, with the weather, I felt like I needed to wear a hat - keep me warm and it gives you a great attitude."
Also watching Chanel was fellow model and actress Kristine Froseth.
She prefers to focus on her feet.
"Accessory?  Definitely shoes - I'm a shoe gal," Froseth smiled.   "Sneakers.  I like to stay comfy so whenever I can get a nice pair of sneakers, I get that."
On the same day, a few minutes walk away at Paris Toyko House, designer Junko Shimada showed a multi-cultural collection inspired by memories of a holiday in Kenya.
While her models were accessorized with chunky necklaces, vivid colored socks and in one case, a parrot, Shimada herself prefers to keep things classic.
"Well, ever since I was a little girl, I've always liked pearls," the designer said.  "Pearls yes, white ones."
Designer Giambattista Valli agrees.  "I must bring everybody a pearl necklace for example, always."
But the accessory he goes nowhere without?
"My friends, I can say," he laughs.
Valli showed his 1970s influenced fall-winter 2018 collection Monday (5 MARCH 2018,) with models walking the runway in patterns and glittering face paint.
