Long Sault Parkway & ABANDONED Hwy 2

Описание к видео Long Sault Parkway & ABANDONED Hwy 2

The St. Lawrence River was flooded in 1958 by the construction of the Moses-Saunders Power Dam. Many communities were lost to the rising waters of the river as well as roads, railways and even a highway.

One of the cooler things to come out of the increased water level of the river was the creation of the chain of 11 islands that form the Long Sault Parkway. Running from Ingleside to Long Sault, Ontario, the road is about a 10km long. There are still traces to be found of life before the flooding, including stretches of former highway 2 that can be seen dipping above and below the waters of the St. Lawrence River.
