Louisiana State University - Physics & Astronomy Department

LSU's Physics department is actively involved in research in astronomy and astrophysics, gravitation and relativity, nuclear and particle physics, materials and condensed matter physics,atomic/molecular/optical physics, quantum optics and computing, and medical and health physics. We take an inter-disciplinary approach to research, which allows us to achieve ground-breaking work, and we have access to leading research facilities, including the 1.5 GeV electron synchrotron at LSU's Center for Advanced Microstructures and Devices (CAMD) and LSU's Center for Computation and Technology (CCT), home to one of the fastest supercomputers in the world. We offer Physics undergraduate and graduate students great research opportunities which hold them in good stead for further PhD study or a career in industry.
