Mussoorie: Heavy rains on Sunday afternoon disrupted normal life across Mussoorie, with Kempty Falls turning ferocious, frightening tourists and locals alike. Around 3 PM, a sudden surge in water brought along debris and stones from the hills, flooding the surrounding area and blocking key roads.

Water entered three to four shops near the falls, while debris temporarily halted traffic on the Tyuni-Maletha highway and Mussoorie-Kimadi Road. Police quickly evacuated tourists from the area and restricted entry to the falls.

According to Campti Police Station in-charge Sanjay Mishra, no damage was reported, and tourists were removed in time. PWD officials used JCB machines to clear blocked roads, including at km-14 on the Mussoorie-Doon Road. The temperature dropped to 15°C, bringing a chill back to the city and affecting local tourism, with many tourists confined to hotels.
