Genesis 31:42 “Except the God of my father... had been with me, surely thou hath sent me away now empty. God hath seen mine affliction and the labour of my hands, and rebuked thee yesternight.”

Mark 3:35 “For whosoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother, and my sister, and mother.”

Psalm 31:1 “In thee, O Lord, do I put my trust; let me never be ashamed: deliver me in thy righteousness.”

DAILY REFLECTION:

Genesis 31 reminds us that God is our Advocate when we are treated unfairly; He sees our affliction and ensures we are not sent away empty. Mark 3 expands our understanding of belonging, teaching us that doing God’s will brings us into a spiritual family more resilient than any earthly bond. Psalm 31 provides the prayer for this walk, anchoring our trust in God as our strong rock and house of defence. Together, these passages remind us that we are seen, protected, and loved as part of God’s household.

👣 PRACTICAL APPLICATION

1. Trust the Advocate: If you feel cheated or unheard at work or in life, give the situation to God, who saw Jacob's labour.
2. Prioritize the Will of God: Ask yourself today, "What is one way I can do God's will?" knowing this confirms your place in His family.
3. Take Refuge: When the world feels hostile, audibly declare: "My times are in Your hand."
4. Look for Your Spiritual Kin: Reach out to a fellow believer today and encourage them as a brother or sister in Christ.

Heavenly Father, thank You for being my advocate and my secure refuge. Thank You for seeing my hard work and protecting me from those who would deceive me. Help me to do Your will with a joyful heart today, resting in the knowledge that I am Your child and part of Your eternal family. In Jesus’ name, amen.
