TW: cult torture. As cult torture survivors we can work on programming to get safe, but that means working with the cult created, cult-trained folks inside who hold the programming (DID). It means talking to them with compassion and empathy, recognizing all the torture they survived to keep us alive, repeatedly challenging the cult lies and helping them see that they and everyone else do not deserve to be tortured. And if the cult torture survivor isn't safe yet it means working on all that, as well as increasing inner communication and inner cooperation to stop losing time, to work on recognizing who the abusers are to avoid them and eventually get away, working with the self-reporting tortured folks inside so that they don't report the really important ways of trying to heal or escape but give lesser information instead, and using creativity to work around the programming or change it or find loopholes with the folks inside who were trained with the programming. It can also mean running away over and over again. I had to run away so many times to get completely safe but each major time I ran away I got a little bit safer. It can take a long time; it took most of my life, but I did get safe, and I've talked to other survivors who got safe sooner.
