3. EVB Broadcasting Ruins
The Europan Videotheque Broadcasting Broadcasting has crumbled in the years since the revolution. It’s since been taken over by Noids, who swear they can hear voices in the halls.
*Noids-Noiding Out*
Schizoaffective slang for overloading neural implants with digital media data leaking out from the EVB Broadcast tower.
Hook:
Petra, a young film photographer, is looking for her brother. He went out in search of old equipment that he’d heard existed in the broadcasting tower.
*Room One: Entrance And Guardian*
Surrounding the building are small tents, cloth strung between poles, rain pooling in the bottom.
Skittery Dave & Big Kellogg guard the way. Big is double plus mega, big time feel, na? Dave speaks in adjectives, describing the way that he’s feeling at the moment.
"It's like living whole lives in there, man!"
A successful DC 14 insight check reveals that Dave’s totally noided out. He’s started using himself to describe adjectives, rather than the other way around.
A successful DC 16 history check reveals that the Broadcasting building attracts those with damaged cyberware. You can catch entire lifetimes in moments from the media data leaking out from the building, creating the illusion of nigh-immortality. In reality, however, their minds burn out quickly from overstimulation, and they’re left sullen husks.
AUDIO FILE #2:
Erin Halloway: And fire whatever idiot submitted the copyright paperwork. EVB Broadcasting? Europa Videoteque Broadcasting Broadcasting?
Intern: I think that was Vic.
Erin: Who let him anywhere near a piece of paper that wasn’t the goddamned script?
Intern: Well, they were trying to get closer to the Essence of writing.
Erin: By doing paperwork?
Intern: Apparently.
Room Two: Puzzle Or Roleplaying Challenge
Alfred Camus, a young photographer and Petra’s brother, wants to raid it for film, he’s upset that you might take that from him.
Click Flash - you're blinded by an incredibly bright light (DC 18 Dex save or be blinded) You hear a voice, in the darkness "why have you come to rob this place?" You cannot see anything. Footsteps begin to step closer to you.
Alfred is trying to convince you to leave, but when the light clears, he’s a scrawny and unimposing man. He apologizes for threatening you, and begs you not to take all the film. Once he realizes you’re not after the film at all, he offers to show you the path to the next area.
Room Three: Trick or Setback
The next room is filled with glass screens, dark and reflective. You feel something start to tug at your mind…
Hallucinations, against a Wisdom Save (Roll for them) as the Data Rot begins to seep in. You start to become paranoid - you see traps on the floor, and think maybe there’s a fifth member of your team.
Random Encounters
Pass - You begin falling through the floor, make me a Dex save or take 2d6 bludgeoning // You see a gap in the floor. You step over it.
Failed - You begin falling through the floor, make me a Dex save. You throw yourself to the floor, but nothing happens.
Bill, you’re up. Huh? You’re a protein farmer from Phobos, what are you doing here?
You’re running late for your dissertation.
A family or loved one is looking for you.
The DM seems to think you’re a different class now.
You seem to get separated from the group.
Ghosts in the Shell
Digital holograms come to life and begin to attack! A single ghost is controlling these visions, it shares the stats with Ghost (MM 147)
Room Five: Reward, Revelation, Plot Twist
You find a data disk containing the EVB broadcasting thing, and film canisters worth 50 Euro.
You see a flash of blue light, and get your first glimpse of EV3. You see Alfred’s body - he was just a media reflection the whole time. He died of a heart attack a while ago, medicine check. She promises you a Scroll of Silence, a small device that blocks all sound ((AND ACCESS TO THE WHISPER)) in a certain area.
