Leyland Atlantean 680 diesel engine sounds inline and rotary fuel injection pumps Metrocentre Rally

Just a video that's been tickling my brain since the Metro centre bus rally in 2024 when as you hear an overheard conversation about engine sounds different because of the different fuel pump fitted to a 680 engine.
It does and when I was there taking the footage I was ruling out mechanical layouts and air filter intakes. Then I noticed they are both registered in 1971-2 which gives them both K suffix registration plate.
I think the inline pump is better engineered and more accurate in delivering metered fuel and has a better throttle response. A big difference is the weight and how it's mounted on the engine with brackets and also how it's driven from the engine pump drive / shims plates etc.
The Dpa style pump is cheaper build and substantially lighter and weight saving but functional as you find them on series on Landrovers to basic tractors and plant machinery, just three nuts hold it on to the engine usually and less pipe work too.
