The Whitlam Institute is excited to launch our new exhibition “An Agenda for Change: Gough Whitlam and the 1972 election”. Featuring letters, campaign materials, Whitlam’s personal diary entries and more, this exhibition presents a glimpse into Australia in the 70s – a world ready to embrace Gough Whitlam’s transformative vision of a more equal, tolerant and open Australia. It was a time of extraordinary social, cultural and political transformation, shaped by a decade of social activism.

This free exhibition is a must-see for anyone interested in the foundations of modern Australia and the many opportunities and freedoms Whitlam established for the generations to come. The exhibition is on display at the Margaret Whitlam Galleries until 13 April 2023.
