Meet Dennis Cusick, JD '99

Описание к видео Meet Dennis Cusick, JD '99

Dennis Cusick, ‘99, pursued law as a second career. He was in his '40s during law school because he felt he needed a new intellectual challenge in his life. Prior to law school, he was a newspaper copy editor for 20 years.

Cusick explains that McGeorge School of Law provided a great foundation to learn how to research, think on your feet, and improvise. Cusick would absolutely recommend McGeorge School of Law to prospective students because of the school's incredible faculty and focus on experiential learning. “McGeorge does a good job of preparing the legal community, and a great percentage of the legal community are McGeorge graduates," Cusick said.

For the past 24 years, Cusick has represented incarcerated clients. His practice focuses on death penalty cases, death penalty appeals, and life without parole sentences. He said he loves the practice of law and representing incarcerated individuals seeking to rebuild their lives.

Cusick decided to get involved with the McGeorge School of Law Alumni Association Board of Directors because he felt that he had a perspective that might be useful to the law school as a former nontraditional student.
