Political turmoil grips the North West Province as the Provincial Legislature's Ad Hoc Committee concludes a week of explosive public hearings into Premier Lazarus Mokgosi. The committee is investigating serious allegations of improper conduct, stemming from claims by Naledi Local Municipality Mayor Clifton J. Groep that Premier Mokgosi and other officials politically interfered in the recruitment process for a municipal manager.

The proceedings were marked by high drama, including a witness clashing with the committee chairperson, Hon. Nathan Oliphant, over the necessity of a subpoena and accusations of poor communication.
With the province already under a Section 100 intervention due to governance failures, the findings of this Ad Hoc Committee could determine the political future of Premier Mokgosi and the stability of the North West.
