Taylor Guitar vs Martin Guitars. My first Guitar was a Taylor Academy 10e which I got about 9 days after playng around on a classical style Washburn with Nylon Strings. I wanted that bright steel string sound! And boy did I get it with this Taylor Academy. Taylors are made in San Diego and are known for their consistent bright sound across all their guitars.

The Academy was designed for beginners. Even though this is a dreadnought, they added a beveled arm rest for comfort. The neck is thin and is easy to fret and make your first chords. The guitar sounds good even if you are fumbling around as a beginner. It literally wants to make you play.

now there is the longstanding issue of Taylor Guitar vs Martin. Which guitar is better? Many people might ask which guitar is better for beginners, and I would say, hands down, the Taylor is. And I attribute my early success to the Taylor Guitar. I am seeing costs now between $700 to $850 depending on the website. Well worth the investment.

I got my Taylor in October of 2021 and the Martin HD 28 in March of 2022, almost exactly a year ago. This Guitar comparison should be interesting. It's a riff off of a song I wrote called "Snowing outside." Obviously a fun acoustic riff to play. It's my original song. One of my very early voice coaches told me to focus on songwriting and I became a songwriter about 2 and a half months after beginning to play guitar. Again, I attribute this to the ease of playing the Taylor.

Of Acoustic Guitars, the three big names are Taylor Guitars, Martin Guitars and Gibson Guitars which are made right here in Nashville, Tennessee. I am fond of going to the Gibson Garage in Downtown nashville and playing their guitars. I have my eye on a few.

But this is a Martin vs Taylor or Taylor vs Martin comparison. It's pretty straightforward, I play about a 20 second acoustic riff from my composition back to back. it's up to you to decide which guitar is better.

Both acoustic guitars are Dreadnoughts. I do not like playing smaller guitars as I am about 5'10" and have long arms. It has always felt comfortable to me even as a beginner. The Taylor vs Martin Sound is what we are focused on here. The Taylor, is a low maintenance guitar (perfect for beginners) and I have neglected it as I used the Martin more and more.

I was surprised when I picked it up after months it still sounded great. It had that bright Taylor sound
