Taiwanese Filmmaker Tsai Yi-chin is an all-round filmmaker, one who has dabbled in acting, animation, editing, and obviously, directing. In fact, her Sundance-nominated short film—“Is This Now The Time I Should Let You Go?”—showcases years of experience in all realms of filmmaking. In this exclusive chat with TaiwanPlus, Tsai shares the kind of emotional waters she had to tread in making this work of art. “It took me two years to make this film, one of which consisted of me overcoming my emotions.” Though her film is not available at the moment, she is definitely a star to look out for in the future.

“The Making of Filmmakers” is an online film festival curated by TaiwanPlus. As one of the media partners of Sundance Film Festival Asia 2023, TaiwanPlus will be showing 5 of the 9 short films, including short film competition winner "Tuo Tuo." TaiwanPlus host Jenny Luo sits down with the directors of these short films, getting an insight on how these alluring visual stories were made. From working on their film to where they see themselves next, this series showcases rising stars in Taiwan’s film industry.
