Описание к видео Stone Age Smartphones & Melting Tablets – Daniel Böswirth’s Climate Art | Turning the Tide

In this imaginative and thought-provoking interview, Daniel Böswirth, Austrian performance artist and writer, presents his interactive installation created for the Turning the Tide project. Blending ephemeral materials with deep symbolism, his work uses stone, water, and heat to explore our fragile relationship with communication, technology, and the environment.

🪨 About the Project:
Daniel invites the audience to interact with three sculptural objects—playfully modeled after smartphones and tablets, but made of stone. Participants “send messages” by brushing water onto the stone surfaces. The result? Each message evaporates within seconds. This poetic act reflects how nothing lasts, especially in the face of climate inaction.

🔥 Main Elements of the Installation:

Stone Age Cellphone
Visitors use water and brushes to write ephemeral texts or drawings—only to watch them fade away, symbolizing the impermanence of digital memory and human legacy.

Heated Twin Tablet
Electrically warmed to 50°C, this sculpture references predicted heatwaves in cities like Paris by 2040. Messages vanish even faster here—confronting visitors with the harsh pace of climate change.

12 Monthly Tablets
A photo-collage series where participants document their brief messages across time, presented in a large white frame. But time is the enemy—each piece is a race against disappearance.

🎭 Böswirth’s work is not just an installation—it’s an invitation to experience loss, transience, and urgency. In a playful yet serious tone, he reminds us: if we don’t act, everything disappears—even us.
