Moving to a new city, and having a limited budget to pull of a design miracle in their fixer-upper house, Derek and Nessa are stumped. Where do they begin? They meet designer Jessica Cotton, who gives them some advice, but makes it clear that they can’t afford her. She gets them in touch with eager design student Lisa, and tells them she might be their best bet.

Lisa is a dream. She has great ideas, and seems to be able to work with a limited budget. Her secret? “Reclaimed Chic”: Finding vintage or discarded items and revitalizing them for a new use. She’ll work for free to beef up her portfolio, and the best part is that she estimates that she can do the whole house for their budget!

Derek and Nessa are elated, but it doesn’t last long. Vinccenzo has some bad news. The add-on that they hoped to relocate the bathroom to is a mess. Faulty electrical and shoddy construction make it a huge hazard. Vincenzo is adamant that it has to come down. To make matters worse, the bathroom is relegated to the basement – which is an unfinished pile of junk and cobwebs.

All this emergency work is going to blow the entire remaining budget. Derek and Nessa break the news to Lisa that they can no longer go ahead with any design plans. Will Vincenzo be able to come up with a compromise to save them money and allow them to get started with Lisa?
