Just Like John (Norman Bearcroft) - CSB 50 Massed Bands

The eighth item on the CSB 50 program was Norman Bearcroft's "Just Like John", an old favourite of the early CSB. Our alumni were honoured during the performance of this song on the Roy Thomson Hall screens. "Just Like John" was first released on "The Gospel Train" album in 1971, and featured many soloists. A few of our alumni soloists were featured in this live CSB 50 performance: our original principal cornet Deryck Diffey (CSB member 1969 - 2001), Clarence White (CSB member 1981 - 1993, now a member of the Southern Territorial Band), Stan Ewing (CSB member 1973 - 2009), Ron Reid (CSB member 1973 - 2009), and current Staff Bandsman Andrew Burditt, who was filling in on flugelhorn for his father, the late Staff Bandmaster, Brian Burditt (CSB member 1969 - 2002, 2006 - 2008).

This piece features the Canadian Staff Band, the Chicago Staff Band, the New York Staff Band, the Southern Territorial Band, and the USA Western Territory Staff Band. Neil Smith, conducting.
