Sabbath truth Bible study: Saturday worship, Ten Commandments, Jesus’ example, and why Sunday isn’t commanded—learn the 7th-day purpose today.

SUMMARY: Should Christians still keep the seventh-day Sabbath? BODY: The message begins with a brief history of how Advent believers started keeping the Sabbath (1843–1847), then builds the Bible case from Creation: God rested, blessed, and sanctified the seventh day (Gen 2:1–3). Since God does not grow weary (Isa 40:28), His rest models completed work—pointing to Christ finishing redemption and resting in the tomb on Sabbath (Luke 23:54–56).

It then shows the Sabbath was known before Sinai through the manna test (Exod 16:26–30) and highlighted at Sinai with “Remember the Sabbath day” (Exod 20:8–11). The sermon connects prophecy to practice, arguing that a power would “intend to change times and law” (Dan 7:25–26) and that God’s end-time people are described as keeping His commandments and the faith of Jesus (Rev 14:12).

Finally, it traces New Testament continuity: Jesus kept the Sabbath as His custom (Luke 4:16), the disciples rested “according to the commandment” after the cross (Luke 23:56), and Paul taught both Jews and Gentiles on Sabbath (Acts 13; 16; 18). The Sabbath is also framed as a sign that the Lord sanctifies His people (Ezek 20:12) and as an eternal rhythm of worship in the new earth (Isa 66:22–23).
