Athena and Aphrodite both feel the trappings of a patriarchal society and blame each other for the freedoms the other seemingly experience. Inspired by this quote from Dangerous Beauty "just because my cage seems bigger than yours, doesn't mean it's not a cage." Athena represented the ideals in Grecian female values and had the respect of Zeus. Her oath of chastity saved her from marital r*pe but also could have potentially impeded her freedom to love. Aphrodite may have taken lovers, but experienced martial r*pe and was not always given respect i.e Zeus in the Iliad telling her that war is not a woman's place despite Aphrodite being a war goddess.
