Romy Wymer won the Second Prize and the Audience Award in the DHF World Harp Competition 2021 with her program Lore.

Lore is a lever harp performance about connection and belonging. Inspired by traditional music as a vehicle for stories, Romy has created a programme ranging from old melodies to original compositions. She will play slow airs and energetic puirt à beul from Scotland (her home), melodies from centuries-old Dutch manuscripts (her other home), contemporary tunes, and original works based on tunes she wrote about stories, places, and friends. A deeply personal set with which she hopes to express the small joys that define our lives.

About Romy
Romy Wymer is a Glasgow-based lever harp player and composer originally from the Netherlands. Her music draws from the traditions of Scotland, Ireland and elsewhere in Europe, but features a heavy modern influence, leading to her trademark ‘contemporary-trad’ style which pushes the boundaries of her instrument. Her original compositions have a heavy sense of narrative, inspired by folklore, nature and everyday life.
