Father Richard Ho Lung & Friends - Carribean Bread and Wine (1971?) Jamaica. Aha – he’s down in Jamaica! That explains a few things. I’m guessing from Paul Quinlan’s liner notes that this is an earlier recording. The instruments, participants and general sound are the same as Marianna. I like this one even better. A very welcome break from the typical folk stuff. Delicate, touching, tearfully beautiful from start to finish. (The Archivist by Ken Scott, 4th Edition)
Father Richard Ho Lung was born in China but moved to Jamaica in 1939, where through his work as a missionary, he later became known as the Reggae Priest and Renegade Priest. Father Ho-Lung also developed something called the “Caribbean Mass” with his cultural music to raise money for his order, the Missionaries of the Poor. He was also known as the "Dancing Priest" and the "Fiery Priest" but preferred to be called the "Ghetto Priest"
