Why you need to tell your god story
I found a man in the bible just like me

In Mark Chapter 5, we find the story of a man who was trapped. He was hopeless and in despair, tormented by unclean spirits, cutting himself and screaming as he stalked through the tombs he had made his home in the country of the Gadarenes / Gerasenes. There was no one who could help him or even control him. They'd tried but he was too violent and strong to restrain.
Jesus gets into a boat on the other side of the sea and crosses over to the region. The man comes running to Jesus and the legion of demons beg Jesus not to send them into the abyss, but to let them go into a heard of pigs close by, some thousand or two thousand strong. Jesus tells them to go and the man is completely healed and delivered. The pigs run off the steep edge into the sea and drown. The whole community is struck with awe and wonder at the power of God being expressed through Jesus and are terrified at what they have seen. The man in this bible story is said to have wanted to follow Jesus, but Jesus tells the man to go back home, and to tell all his friends about the good things God has done for him, and the mercy He has had on him. The man gets up and begins to "Kerysso," which is greek for declare, publish, announce, and herald, all that Jesus had done and the God story that he would now carry with him for the rest of his life. He told his testimony of his encounter with Jesus all over "decapolis" which was the 10 major cities of ancient Greece.
When I read this story, I identify with the man. I found a man in the bible who was just as (if not much more so) hopeless, and self destructive as I was when God encountered me with love, mercy, and power of Jesus Christ. Just like this man, who went and told everyone His testimony of how God healed him and set him free, I want to share my own God story, because there are others still who need to know that Jesus is God's answer for a broken world, and that He is the answer for our broken hearts. This is why YOU need to tell your God story also. The way Jesus has kept you, healed you, or delivered you. Im sure you have found someone in the bible just like you, but not everyone around you will ever read those stories unless perhaps you give them a reason to look for themselves.
I was depressed and hopeless, stuck in self harm and self destruction mostly in the form of addiction. God had mercy on me in my lowest place and made me new. The oppression was demonic, and the confusion was more than anyone could restrain or bare. It was only through the blood and power of Jesus, encountering His goodness through The Holy Spirit, through the Word of God, and through the saints of God that I was set free. I was made whole. Just like the man in the bible, the demoniac of the Gadarenes, who was delivered form the legion of demons, and needed to tell his God story, I wasn't able to be helped until Jesus had mercy on me. Nothing was stronger then my own delusion, my insecurity and pride, my impulsive, manipulative, self destructive actions and habits, accept for the revelation of Jesus Christ and the new identity He imparts through the salvation He bought for us on the cross and through His resurrection. I need to tell that God Story, and you need to tell your God story, through out the whole earth now as this platform has given us the opportunity.
