Dodge recently announced their Hurricane/Hurricrate motor, a three liter inline six billed as America's answer to the 2JZ. It comes with twin turbochargers and 1000HP potential at the crank. Several of these motors were given to workshops, including us, to swap into cars for Roadkill Nights. While the motor itself has a lot of potential, gearbox and tailshaft issues affected just about half of the teams. So is this new platform the start of a golden era for Dodge outside of the Hemi, or is it a dead end for the Stellantis company? We dive deep into what makes these motors tick, how we fitted one into a Mexican Ramcharger, and what our development plan is going to be.
