How to support a person living with dementia that's in an Amber GEMS® State

Today the PAC team discusses retained abilities and care for a person in an Amber State. When we observe and use a person’s currently abilities, we can support them in their own care tasks instead of doing it for them. Remember, if you don’t use it, you lose it. When you are supporting a person living with dementia, let them do as much as they can and substitute your skill only when needed. This allows them to both feel self-sufficient and maintain currently abilities long.
