Nadra Smiley is a visionary entrepreneur, natural hair specialist, and community advocate whose work has transformed the textured hair care landscape in Chicago and beyond. As the founder of Evolving Textures, Nadra has dedicated her life to honoring the heritage, versatility, and health of Black hair through high-performance, plant-based products and empowering education.

With roots in natural hair care since the age of 15, Nadra has become a leading voice for cultural authenticity, business innovation, and community wellness. Her influence extends beyond the salon and product shelves—Nadra was a key advocate in the movement to reform hair braiding license laws in Illinois, helping to dismantle barriers that unfairly limited opportunities for Black stylists and entrepreneurs. Her work was so impactful that it continues to be recognized in media and government resources as a turning point in legislative change for beauty professionals of color.

Through her brand, teaching, and collaborations, Nadra continues to guide a growing network of stylists, wellness advocates, and women in business. Her mission is simple yet powerful: to build safe, intentional spaces where Black women can thrive—creatively, economically, and spiritually.
