The Yankees sent Luis Severino to the hill to face off against Andrew Heaney of the Angels. The Angels opened up the scoring in this one, with Shohei Ohtani hitting a solo homerun in the 2nd. The Yankees answered in the 5th, with Aaron Hicks hitting a sacrifice fly to center, which scored Miguel Andujar. The Yankees got back on the board the following inning, with a Neil Walker sacrifice fly which plated Didi Gregorious. The Angels were able to respond in the 7th, with a 2-RBI triple by Andrelton Simmons, which scored Mike Trout and Albert Pujols. The Angels went into the 9th with the lead, and brought in closer Keynan Middleton. Middleton was unable to secure the victory, and suffered his first blown save of the season when Brett Gardner hit a sacrifice fly to left which scored Gary Sahchez. Didi Gregorious homered in the 10th giving the Yankees a 1 run lead, and that is all they needed. Aroldis Chapman came in for the save, and to secure the win. Both starters in this game were great:
Severino went 7 innings giving up 3 ER and 5 hits while striking out 8.
Heaney went 5 innings giving up 1 ER and 5 hits while striking out 9.
