Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said that the nation can only progress if the state governments and the centre work shoulder to shoulder.

He was addressing the meeting of Inter-State Council organized with the purpose of strengthening further the Centre-state relations, which is meeting after a decade.

Speaking on the Punchhi Commission's recommendations, the Prime Minister said that the deliberations today marked a good beginning. He said that discussions on the subject will continue, and as consensus evolves on the recommendations, the process of implementation will follow thereafter.
