Lexus ES300 - A/C Compressor & Condenser Replacement

This video will show you how to replace the a/c compressor and condenser on a Lexus ES300. If you choose not to replace the condenser and if it's partially clogged, you run the risk of new compressor failure in less than a month...and forget about collecting on a warranty claim. You must show proof of installing a new condenser or receipt of a cleaned condenser from a professional a/c repair shop.
The procedure and steps should be virtually identical to the ES300's cousin which is the V6 Camry and Avalon. In addition, all disconnected a/c hose and connection points will have their O rings replaced along with the high and low pressure service port schrader valves. This will ensure a complete seal of the a/c system. Approximately 2 oz of PAG 46 compressor oil will be added to the factory pre-oiled compressor to compensate for lost residual oil in the condenser and attached accumulator. The system will then be evacuated (or vacuumed) to remove any residual moisture before introduction of 26 to 30 oz of R134a refrigerant. The evacuation of the system will require the use of an a/c vacuum pump along with high (red), low (blue) and vacuum service (yellow) hoses to be connected to an a/c manifold with high and low pressure gauges. The vacuum pump, hoses and a/c manifold can be rented from retail auto parts providers like Autozone or Oreilly's. You many have to purchase an a/c refill can adapter to connect to the yellow service hose if not available for rent.

The replacement parts used in this video are made by Denso. Denso is the OEM provider for Toyota and Lexus.

The typical repair cost for this job can reach up to $1,400. If you do the repair yourself, the parts may cost you somewhere in the neighborhood of $400... a savings of around $1,000.
