George Henry Raveling (June twenty-seventh, nineteen thirty-seven – September second, twenty twenty-five) was an American college basketball player, coach, Nike executive, and cultural figure. He made history as the first African American coach in the ACC and the Pac-Eight Conference, leading Washington State, Iowa, and USC, and later became Nike’s Global Basketball Sports Marketing Director.

Raveling also held one of the most iconic artifacts in American history — the original “I Have a Dream” speech, handed to him directly by Martin Luther King Jr. He safeguarded it for decades before ensuring it would be preserved for future generations.
