In this video I cover 3 Ventura Headlines, September 2024. The first is the wonderful news of the Veterans Affordable Housing project Ventura Springs nearing completion. The apartments will soon begin accepting new applicants. Bravo to the city of Ventura for making this project a reality, and providing our Veterans with much needed housing. Income limits will apply.
The second headline is about Mariano Rancho, the latest project by the Ventura Land Trust. The VLT plans to rehabilitate existing trails, build a new parking area, trail head and build new trails across the 1,600 acre parcel behind Hobson Heights. Some neighbors have expressed concerns about hikers being so close to their property lines, understandably, and the VLT is working to address those concerns. Who else is excited for a new place to explore our hillsides?
The third headline is about city staff's efforts to pass stricter tenant protection laws here in Ventura. Staff feel that California laws do not go far enough, and that residents will be better off with a new, more expansive, ordinance. Part of their plan is for the city to provide funding to tenants who wish to hire attorneys to sue their landlords. What do you think about this?
