Tontada Siddhalinga Mahaswamiji, 70, the 19th pontiff of Tontadarya Sansthan Mutt Gadag-Dambal, died after cardiac arrest in Gadag on Saturday. Mutt sources said the swamiji suffered chest pain early in the morning and was given first aid. He was later taken to Chirayu Hospital but he died on the way.
As the news of his demise spread, hundreds of devotees rushed to the mutt. The swamiji will be given a state funeral on Sunday.
