I have used camera mounting solutions from Railblaza, RAM, and Scotty as well as fabricating DIY solutions myself. They all have their advantages and disadvantages. I wanted a camera mounting system for the over-the-shoulder view on my kayak. A common mistake many people make, is to buy a pole mounted system which is too tall... the taller the pole, the more unstable it will be. For perfect over-the-shoulder shooting, you need a pole which is just tall enough to allow a view of you and your rods.
